Why vote for Bruce Miller ?

Bruce Miller is a hard working councillor who is not afraid to make difficult decisions in the best interest of our community.

Whilst Mayor, Bruce was part of major improvements to our cultural, sporting and administrative and public amenities infrastructure.

Bruce is committed to using his experience to continue to lobby for improved health services; better road and rail infrastructure and a regular air service.

Experience

Local  Government  Experience:

•   Councillor Cowra Shire Council for 5 council terms including 14 years as Mayor and 2 years as Deputy Mayor

•   Chaired all Council Committees over this period.

•   Shires Association Executive for 8 years including 4 years as President and 3 years as Vice President.

•   Director of Australian Local Government Association from 2007 to present including 2 years as Vice President.

•   A  number  of  years  as a  member  of:

*the Rural Fire Service Co-Ordinating Committee;

*the Rural Fire Service Advisory Council;

*the War  Memorials  Advisory Council;

*the  Natural  Resource Advisory Council.

Priorities  for  the  next  term  and  beyond:

* Implementing the adopted Central Business 

   District (CBD) Master Plan

* Identifying and lobbying for a Heavy Vehicle Alternate Route

* Major refurbishment of Cowra's Water Treatment Plant

* Darby's  Falls Water  Supply

* Implementing River  Bank  Master  Plan

* Continued  improvements  to our

     - Road and Bridge  Network 

      -Sporting Fields and  Gardens

      -Playgrounds

      -Finalisation of the Local Environmental Plan (LEP)

      -Develop and implement a water reuse plan for the Sewerage Treatment Plant

Achievements:

During his time on council and as Mayor of Cowra the following projects, and many more, have come to fruition:

•   Aquatic  Centre

•   Art  Gallery

•   Library

•   Overall winner of the NSW Tidy Towns 2002

•   Redevelopment of the Civic Centre and Council Administration Building.

•   Emergency Water Pipe line from Cowra to Woodstock

•   New Sewerage  Treatment  Plant

•   Development of the Materials Recycling Centre

•   During tough economic times support for major economic activities including the:

    * Reopening of Windsor Farms  Food

   * Cowra  Abbatoirs

   * Sarajane Furniture and Jim Lazarou Furniture Manufacturing

   * Various Tourism  Enterprises

*Bruce has lived in Cowra for most of his adult life.

* Happily married  to  Anne for  44  years;

* Father of 3 children, David, Greg and Sharon;

* Proud grandfather of 3 grandsons, Aiden Nicholas and Joshua.

* Keen sportsman for many years (now an armchair critic!)

* An avid reader, who enjoys cooking, gardening, travelling  

    and he likes to fish.
